How to Copy and Paste Emojis on Any Device
You don't need a special keyboard to use emojis. Whether you're on a phone or a computer, here's how to copy any emoji and paste it wherever you need it.
The fastest way (any device)
Use Quick Emoji: search for the emoji you want, tap it to copy, then paste it into your app. This works the same on every device and gives you emojis that aren't on your keyboard, plus combos you can't type by hand.
On iPhone (iOS)
Tap and hold the emoji or text, choose Copy, then tap and hold where you want it and choose Paste. To use the built-in emoji keyboard instead, tap the 🙂 or globe icon on your keyboard.
On Android
Long-press the emoji, tap Copy, then long-press the text field and tap Paste. The Gboard keyboard also has an emoji button, and its search bar lets you find emojis by name.
On Windows
Press Windows + . (period) to open the emoji picker in any text field. To copy from a website, highlight the emoji, press Ctrl + C, then Ctrl + V to paste.
On Mac
Press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer, or copy an emoji from the web with Cmd + C and paste with Cmd + V.
Why copy from a website?
Built-in keyboards only show standard emojis and no combos, and they can be slow to search. Copying from Quick Emoji lets you find the exact emoji by name, grab skin-tone variations, and paste ready-made combos - all in a couple of taps.
